Hii everyone
i am doing my reserach related to plankton diversity, i have two sampling site, on the site 1 the number of plankton species is more and the site 2 is more polluted having less number of plankton.
But while calculating the index value the site 2 showing more diversity index as compare to site 1, is it correct?
Please give some suggestion.

you have to take into account not only the number of species, but also the relative abundance of each in each area.; perhaps relative abundance answers why the diversity values are still different than you expected.
I would double check your calculations. The formula is built on the proportion each species comprises (each species' abundance) out of the total number of individuals in sample. The greater the number of species, the larger the sum of the natural log of each species' proportion.
