First of all I wish to tell you that I am a science enthusiast with tremendous interest in cosmology. Although I am an inter-disciplinary researcher by profession, physical sciences are not a vertical field of expertise for me. However, in the context of periodic table, I have noted that there are various relations between different elements. For example, diagonal relationships, magic numbers, etc. are already there. Recently, in the course of my own amateur research, I found some indications that atomic weights and numbers of different elements may have some kind of mathematical or numerical relationships between them. My question is ... Is that possible at all? Or is it a wastage of time if we wish to look deeper into such coincidences? I have already published a paper on this at RG, and I wish to do more. look deeper into what you are working on right now...... my own view in this regard is that symmetry observed in any system is borne out of the symmetry in laws of composition of numbers that describe the system, look into these numbers and their symmetry, you will have your answer.

The periodic table (see http://www.rsc.org/periodic-table) is not a mystery at all; it indeed took a long while to figure out how to best represent the elements, yes, in particular because there were new elements arriving while the table was built, filling in the blanks, so to speak, so that we can see patterns (columns) in which elements have similar chemical properties.
But anyone who finds "magic numbers" here - or anywhere - ought to skip eating their magic mushrooms for good. .
