Is it feasible to use high speed shear mixer (10000 rpm) for mixing modifiers with Bitumen?
How long will be the mixing process with this much speed?
I have been using a lot slower rotational speeds for the same purpose and they give good enough distribution of the modifier within the bitumen volume as checked by high resolution microscopes. Therefore, I suggest that you use this mixer of yours and then check wether the modifier is evely distributed throughout the specimen or not!
If you think that you need a mechanical stirrer with a high speed i suggest that you have to add the modifier gradually at a very slow rate within 5 minutes at 1000 rev/ min for the first 15 min of mixing process, then you can rotate the mechanical stirrer rotated at 7500 rev/ min for the rest of the mixing time, and you will get a very good results. you can insure that there is no formation of clogs during the whole mixing time. so for any modifier i think 1000 rpm is enough.
There are basically three important parameters in the modification process: mixing time, mixing temperature and mixing speed. The most important issue is the optimization of these three parameters. If long time, high temperature and / or high speed parametrers are choosen aging problem may occur. If conversely, the risk of phase separation may reveal. This issue is the subject of research. Our ongoing research project on this subject is available and continue our work.

Erol iskender is right. Optimization of these three parameters will gives good results... the three parameters can be assesed by optimizing G*/SinD..
Can you please tell that what rpm, time and temperature you used for mixing polymer with asphalt binder? What kind of polymer did you use?
