Is it alright to generalize optimum nutrient levels/ratios from researches tackling the same dinoflagellate species but different morphotypes?

Dinoflagellates such as Alexandrium minutum have several morphotypes. In conducting a research regarding another dinoflagellate morphotype present in our area, is it correct to perhaps find an average between the levels of nutrient levels or ratios from a research involved with a different morphotype? Can this be done with other factors of growth of dinoflagellates?
