Queried plants formed nice clumps of sat green leaves resembling P. austriacum and P. alsaticum in April. Pale green stems and leaves appeared in the center soon, followed by pale green young composed umbels.

Middle leaflet lobes of upper stem leaves are distincly broader than their neighbours and rounded. Umbel stalks are longitudinally sulcate. Composed umbels are relatively large, having diameter 6–9 cm, and containing up to 30 umbellules. Involucre consists of mostly single linear bract of approximate length ½ umbellule stalk. Umbellules contain up to 25 flowers. Involucrules contain ±10 linear bracts much longer than flower stalks, at first suberect, later at anthesis horizontally radially spread. Petals are nearly erect, cucullate, sat green in the center, whitish in the margin. Demonstrated with photographs.

1 P. officinale has umbels nodding before anthesis, involucrule bracts shorter than flower stalks, petals pale yellow.

2 P. arenarium has petals yellow.

3 P. carvifolia has leaves simply pinnate.

4 P. alsaticum has stems reddish, umbels up to 5 cm in diametr, petals pale yellow.

5 P. cervaria has leaflets of last order undivided.

6 P. oreoselinum has petiolules broken in approximately right angle, so that leaves form weak balls.

7 P. austriacum has involucre bracts numerous, white margined, and involucrule bracts shorter than flower stalks.

8 P. palustre has stem purplish at the base, involucre bracts numerous, lanceolate, whitish margined, recurved.

Laserpitium prutenicum has mighty involucre bracts.

Silaum silaus has yellow petals.

Selinum carvifolia has involucrule bracts as long as flower stalks, and middle leaflet lobes of upper leaves pointed.
