Powdered plant material was divided into two portions and each solvent extracted using a different solvent. Now the next stage is to perform phytochemical screening.
It depends upon the objectives of your study. If you just want want to profile, then it is wise to mix them. If you want to check the effect of solvent, profile them independently.
The plant materials should be ONE portion and extract with different solvents, starting with non-polar solvent( n-hexane or petroleum ether), then extract the remained plant with another solvent with higher polarity, ethyl acetate, then methanol, then 70% methanol , if necessary with water.
Actually it depends on the required extracted compounds.
