I have a question about using stated-preference methods like conjoint analysis for valuing a landscape type - derelict industrial lands with spontaneous wild vegetation.

As I have not found specific papers related to valuing this contested landscape type, I want to know is it a prerequisite for economic value research that the object we evaluate needs to have sufficient “recognized” values rather than “potential” values like ones in derelict wild spaces? Also, is there a possibility that the result is that values of one landscape are not high in public perspective?
