There are perhaps a large number of research articles indicating hypertension is genetically controlled. I am not sure if this issue is settled in favor of genetic basis. I think that the environment of the individual may play a crucial role and genetics may not have anything to do with the onset of hypertension. How would one determine if  hypertension in an individual or population is gene-based? Can merely looking at the gene-map of a population be sufficient to conclude? Can some one elaborate on this issue. Thank you.
