Many writers make a distinction between solitude and loneliness. The former is value free or even positive, the latter negative. The ability to enjoy solitude can be seen as a sign of maturity. For some people it is an opportunity to reflect, enjoy nature and be refreshed. For a few the desire to seek solitude may be a flight from problems with socialisation, but solitude in itself is not to be seen in a negative way. Loneliness on the other hand is unwanted isolation from other human contact. There is a large evidence base that it is damaging to mental and physical health. Essentially I agree with the previous answer. But there is a much larger evidence base on the negativity of loneliness than on the positives of solitude. The latter evidence is often concerned with specifics e.g. green spaces, music, reading than solitude itself.
While I support the view of A. Einstein, I cannot value medically any social trend of isolation as healthy for individuals and the human environment. Living means communicating and sharing; most human pathologies do emerge by social isolation and a lack of vital exchange.
If you have a mobile phone or a computer with the Internet, it is already difficult to be physically alone. But it is possible to be lonely and in crowd if there are no relatives mentally. In addition, a person can always communicate with God.
