The thermal power plant waste namely, the fly ash, normally contains Mullite (Al2O2 and SiO2) minerals and quartz mineral. My question is when this fly ash is being used as supplementary cementitious materials in concrete as cement replacement, whether they are completely taking part in the hydration reaction (pozzolanic reaction)? Gaining of strength in concrete by using fly ash after several days of curing in immaterial to me.
In that case, how much quantity of fly ash is being utilized?
