I am looking into e-learning and virtual labs as alternatives to face-to-face teaching of lab techniques in natural sciences. Looking for people to give their opinion and share previous experiences they might have.
Hola! e-learning platforms that are good in my experience as student: Blackboard (http://www.blackboard.com/) and Edmodo (http://www.edmodo.com/), they are friendly and easy to use. We used them for read articles, send homeworks, discuss some topics and take tests in Blackboard.
I only know the virtual laboratory from University of Utah (http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/), is a good tool for learning genetics and molecular biology.
I started working with a Japanese platform WebELS DESIGNED to students in Ph-D, it is very pleasant. It has two modes: e-learning and e-meeting.
It's e-meeting module provides a good synchronization of slides of the course or conference with the video. I invite you to try especially since it is open source.
