I think (not sure) that there is a security problem in D2D (although researchers are working), is it correct that D2D provides higher physical layer security ? One more thing that if D2D provides higher data rates then can you give an explanation (including mathematics relation, if possible)?

Devices can source information and required to send them to specific destinations which are similar other devices. So, devices can source or sink information. That they can send it to each other., like wise the mankind information or human to human communication. May be the type of the data produced by devices not intelligible as voice, audio, video and images.
This may give this information some form security as it may be hard to interpret. Otherwise as any data source it needs protection and to be secured. So, one can use the methods developed for other signals to protect data sources of the devices.
The other issue raised by you is the data rate which is higher as you said.
Conceptually the speed of data on any communication link is determined by its available bandwidth B, and its signal to noise ratio according to Shanon capacity limit C of the communication channel:
C= B log2 (1+S/N),
conversely in order to achieve certain data rate, one has to have a link with a specific bandwidth, and minimum signal to noise ratio. The communication resources are planned to accommodate the required traffic.
The main characteristic of the D-D communication is the nature of data source which may be very irregular and of small capacity with very large devices.
