Bodh R Sharma Life is invaluable. So many human and animal lives loss to COVID-19. I consider it a disaster. Photo 2 shows that 15 million minks were slaughtered in Denmark due to COVID-19 infection and fear (1).
Covid-19 is not a blessing. COVID-19 has truly reminded us all that no man is an island. Nor is any person truly self-sufficient; everyone relies on the company, contributions and comfort of others in order to thrive, and therefore we need to be each other’s keeper. This virus is just not taking lives but has further widened the gap that exists between nations, making poor communities more vulnerable. These vulnerable communities are stuck in abject poverty, thereby making it difficult for them to feed their families. https://allianceforscience.cornell.edu/blog/2020/06/analysis-is-covid-19-a-blessing-or-a-curse-to-africa/
The global disruption caused by the COVID-19 has brought about several effects on the environment and climate. Due to movement restriction and a significant slowdown of social and economic activities, air quality has improved in many cities with a reduction in water pollution in different parts of the world. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7498239/
Due to the pandemic's impact on travel and industry, many regions and the planet as a whole experienced a drop in air pollution. Reducing air pollution can reduce both climate change and COVID-19 risks but it is not yet clear which types of air pollution (if any) are common risks to both climate change and COVID-19. The Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air reported that methods to contain the spread of SARS-CoV-2, such as quarantines and travel bans, resulted in a 25 percent reduction of carbon emission in China. In the first month of lockdowns, China produced approximately 200 million fewer metric tons of carbon dioxide than the same period in 2019, due to the reduction in air traffic, oil refining, and coal consumption. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impact_of_the_COVID-19_pandemic_on_the_environment
No matter the tempo it has pushed in technological advancement, it can never be a blessing. It is a threat and affliction and therefore bizarrely unwelcome for humanity.
Although this question appears controversial, COVID - 19 is known to be a pandemic. Thus, we must review the chronological history about epidemics to see if they are a blessing or an affliction?
After experiencing the disaster and misery the corona virus has caused globally over the last two years, I am sure no one will say it is a blessing. Hope soon we will be able to eradicate it completely globally.
Definitely agree with dear Prof Arvind Singh, we have lost many innocent people and many suffering from economic failure and many disasters ..... , but in a phrase from dear famous author ( Paulo Coelho ) , I have read: [ Sometimes the "Wrong" Train can take us to the right place].
It is a bioweapon, funded illegally and used with the most evil intentions to attempt to force an economic shutdown on a global scale, reward globalist corporations, shift governance to a one world, Totalitarian government, and commit crimes against humanity unlike any in our history.
Covid-19 is a pain in heart... Though it had exposed the weakness in our developmental structures in all fields of life. Yet, does this 'eye-opener' makes Covid-19 a blessing in disguise? NEVER
It is just by the products of the great hardwork of research scientists globally that we found the solutions to survive! Covid-19 is the greatest pain I have ever experienced in this life!
An epidemic is never a blessing, it's an affliction no matter the way we see it. The difference here is how we take opportunity of the challenge to make new discoveries, new opportunities and new achievement.
It's was by far one of my most challenging year, bet I took advantage of the opportunity that comes with the COVID situations.
We looked at this from the sales of women entrepreneurs during COVID-19: COVID-19 pandemic, a blessing or a curse for sales? A study of women entrepreneurs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa community (available on RG).
It could be considered both. It has certainly one global catastrophe that claimed, and still is claiming, many souls but at the same time the harsh moral lesson it has managed to teach humanity could be seen as a blessing. We needed to be reminded of our petty nature; we needed to be shaking to the realization that, despite the great advancements in science & technology', we are still vulnerable & weak! We should heed and quit bragging!
Any bioweapon is an attack on humanity. The people who planned the development of the bioweapon, as well as the military departments that regularly create bioweapons should be tried for crimes against humanity.
