Definition of mixture: A mixture consist of two or more substances which are physically combined together and no chemical reaction are involved.

Properties of a mixture:

1. A mixture can be separated by simple physical means.

2. The proportion of each substance in the mixture can vary.

3. The substances retain their chemical identity.

For the reaction of Copper (ii) Sulfate:

CuSO4(s) + H2O (l) --> Cu2+ (aq) + SO4 2- (aq)

This involve enthalpy change of hydration(Cu2+), enthalpy change of hydration of (SO4 2-), enthalpy change of solution and lattice energy.

All these consist of heat change and any reaction that has heat change is a chemical reaction.
