My intentions are to develop models in Abaqus of a composite laminate and/or shell structure with piezoelectric transducers attached to the surface of the structure and a model of a piezoelectric shunt damping circuit in Simulink. I wish to run a co-simulation between the two models to simulate the damping performance of the entire system under forced vibration of the composite structure.
I wish to know if this is possible and if so how I can do this? If not, is this possible using a different software?

I am not aware of how what you want could be done, but, if the piezoelectric shunt damping circuit can be modeled in Matlab code, then it is possible to couple this Matlab code with your Abaqus model and perform a co-simulation between Matlab and Abaqus. This can be done with the use of the Abaqus2Matlab application (see: http://www.abaqus2matlab.com/ ). If you are willing to use this software, please feel free to contact me for any guidance.
