Is change of colour from Red to violet,colour deepening?

To the given sample of citric acid added concentrated Sulphuric acid. Heated strongly. Added sodium nitroprusside to acetone dicarboxylic acid formed which gives a deep red colour. This red changes to violet on adding vinegar. I need the equations involved. The change in colour from Red to violet should or should not be colour deepening.
