It often seems that academics are characterised as being either mainly involved in teaching OR research. Most of us though have to engage actively in both teaching AND research. I would be interested to know if you feel achieving this balance is problematic? Is being involved in teaching and doing research mutually reinforcing resulting in growth in both or does the one activity get in the way of the other? How do you balance the two?
