Overreliance on AI-driven solutions may reduce opportunities for children to engage in creative problem-solving or collaborative learning, as machines often provide immediate answers rather than encouraging exploration. There are also ethical issues, such as data privacy risks, as AI systems collect vast amounts of student information. Furthermore, unequal access to AI tools could widen the educational gap between privileged and underprivileged students. Without proper oversight, AI may inadvertently reinforce biases or limit human interaction, which is crucial for emotional and social growth in young learners. Balancing AI’s benefits with these challenges is essential for its responsible integration into education.

It is indeed a difficult to answer in a clear Yes and No. On one side AI is very helpful to provide children an access to vast amount of information, tools to learn quickly. At the same time, one need to be careful that what cognitive skills may not get developed in children, if they are using only AI tools and support for all their education.

For example, even if it is true that, in future, AI will be able to take care of many skills like, creative ones, to think and create art, content, write articles, books, should children learn to create art, write articles, and train them to do creative work, if it is going be needed no more? This is a difficult question to answer, and my view is that, such trainings/skills should still be built into the children trainings, irrespective of AI able to do it for them. Otherwise, we may risk many cognitive or physical abilities to be developed in human, which will make it easier for AI to take over human in future.

So every dependency has a line, and we need to understand that line and act accordingly.

As a student, I think AI is both helping and harming children’s education, depending on how it’s used.

On the positive side, AI makes learning more personalized. For example, AI-powered apps and platforms adjust lessons to fit each student’s pace and style, which helps keep us engaged and makes it easier to understand tough topics. AI can also help kids with learning disabilities by offering tailored support and making education more accessible. Plus, AI chatbots and virtual tutors are available 24/7, so we can get help whenever we need it.

AI also helps teachers by automating grading and administrative tasks, so they have more time to focus on teaching and supporting students. This can lead to better classroom experiences for everyone.

But there are downsides, too. Some students use AI to cheat on assignments or exams, which is a big problem. Also, spending too much time with AI tools or smart devices might reduce real-life social interaction and creativity. There’s also the risk that if we rely too much on AI, we might not develop important problem-solving or critical thinking skills on our own.

In my opinion, AI is a powerful tool in education, but it needs to be used responsibly. If schools and students use AI thoughtfully, it can make learning better and more fun. But we also have to watch out for the risks and make sure we’re still learning and thinking for ourselves.

In my opinion, I’d say AI in education is a bit like adding garam masala to our curry, a little can elevate the flavor, too much can spoil the whole dish.

When used wisely, AI tools like ChatGPT and adaptive learning apps can be that perfect tadka, like giving students personalized support, clearing their doubts at odd hours (like a midnight Maggi craving) and freeing up teachers to focus on higher-order skills (too idealistic i know).

For kids in crowded classrooms or remote villages, this tech can open doors they never had before, a bit like delivering idli-sambar to places that never had a good udupi hotel (i'm not sure if you got this reference).

But if we pour AI into every part of the plate i.e., spoon-feeding children answers without teaching them how to think, question, and argue; we risk raising kids who can’t "cook" their own ideas. Over-reliance can dull curiosity, shrink attention spans, and widen gaps between the digital haves and have-nots.

So, like any good Indian recipe, balance is the key. AI can be a powerful side dish; but human teachers, parents, and communities must remain the main course. Without them, education loses its soul!
