I'm currently looking for active projects and literature about tools, technologies, and methodologies for accessing information (primarily text) in multiple languages.
I'm aware of several overview articles on Cross-Language Information Retrieval and Multilingual Information Access but I would still much appreciate your input on what's currently in use and what's considered helpful to users.
I'm especially interested in multilingual communities that customarily switch languages to communicate and consult resources (say, news, documentation, etc) in 2+ languages. If you're one of such bilinguals, trilinguals or polyglots, do you think there is sufficient technological support for your daily activities that involve 2+ languages?

The HL7 Infobutton standard includes a mechanism to request reference information in a particular language. Do you know, by any chance, whether those resources are simply provided in multiple languages, i.e., there exist human translations of each source document? Just curious. Victoria
It is voluntary for resources to provide alternate language artifacts. In the domain of medicine, Spanish translations are common, but little else.
