Is anyone conducting research on birth defects in India, particularly in South India? Currently, I am looking at birth defects data in TX and would like to study this topic in Indian context.
Hello Susie Ramisetty-Mikler, I did a Cochrane review update and I was one of the coauthors, the main author was an Indian Professor of Respiratory Medicine. It is on antibiotics for prevention of complications associated with measles, it should be listed on this site, but I don't know whether he can help, that is all the info I can give you sorry that I can't be of more help. Thanks
Hi Susie, I went to the public health conference in KL in 2011. I've just noted in the journal of community health supplement; FPB1-7
PREDICTORS OF MATERNAL AND INFANT IODINE STATUS.
Menon K, Skeaff S, Thomson C, Ferguson E, Zodpey S, Pandav C

Introduction: There is limited information is available on the iodine status of pregnant women and their infants, and the factors associated with their iodine status. The aim of the study was to assess the iodine status of pregnant women and their infants in tribal areas of Ramtek region, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India.
I'm not sure whether iodine is related to birth defects, but maybe this researcher can help you and direct you to someone at the institute with knowledge and/or contacts. I hope this helps. Cheers, Debbie
