I am interested in finding research on the effects of Modafinil (or Provigil) on cortisol and aldosterone production, especially in the setting of hypercortisolism (Cushing's Syndrome or Disease) and/or hyperaldosteronism (Primary or Secondary). I've only come across a paper measuring the effect of Modafinil on cortisol using stressed mice, and a 2017 paper where cortisol was measured after a single dose of Modafinil was given to healthy subjects.

Any information elucidating the mechanism of action for Modafinil would also be appreciated.

Thanks.
