Abstract:  The studies in character, ability, and trait have found their way into leadership research through several leadership concepts.  Indeed, there are significant reasons why each concept is a worthwhile study, proof positive that these concepts should not be removed from the leadership equation.  Rather than encouraging leaders to mentor followers to "follow me" as an imitation learning imperative, leaders mentor to specific and objective-centered abilities and traits in order to create dynamic subordinates.  These dynamic leader/follower competencies form a foundation from which the follower's initiatives grow more naturally into leader initiatives.  This enables leaders to focus mentorship efforts while encouraging followers to develop to their potential based on their personalities, strengths, weaknesses, and situational factors.  Theoretical implications are discussed, while examining practical implications within a "real world" business construct.

Any advice would be helpful.  This is student research project.
