Im spectical regarding this subject a lot, usually eau du toilets perfumes contain ethanol/alcohol denate, the main question is from where this alcohol is derived is it from ethanol derived from fermented fruits or from petroleum in which they extract it to have a similar chemical structure to the known ethanol so they call it ethanol.
I need a detailed answer from chemists and those who are experienced in the field.

In North America Ethanol is derived from corn since it is used as a fuel enhancer.
Aha, do they use corn ethanol in perfumes? Or it might ruin the smell of the perfume over years and give it a fermented kind of scent?
Not likely. Ethanol (itself) is very stable. But other molecules (very low concentrations) that came along in the manufacturing process may react with the perfume matrix. We see this phenomenon in pharmaceuticals all the time.

It is a fixed alcohol with something, so it might be a fermentation of sugarsor carbohydrates and not a synthetic product

There is no guidance on impurities or related substances in foods. However, the FDA is responsible for foods (Food Safety Inspection Agency) and pharmaceuticals (CDER, CBER, OGD (Office of Generic Drugs)). You can read ICH Q3 which applies to pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals. Remember, the same process happens to foods and Ethanol.
