If anybody worked and come across with clinical or preclinical effective therapy with AChE inhibitors especially in menopause condition, please suggest us your ideas and inputs in this regard.
Although some of the reports were found with lack of efficacy of donepezil in especially post-menopause women related dementia and AD, the sample size is small.
Anybody knows regarding differential effects of AChE inhibitors in men and women populations?
Please give your inputs in this regard.

The relationship between estrogen depletion and replacement with respect to memory function appears to be complex and dependent in part on the amount of time that has elapsed between onset of menopause and initiation of treatment with hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which makes generalizations about the effectiveness of any class of cognitive enhancer in post menopausal women somewhat impractical unless the subjects have been stratified by type of HRT and when HRT was initiated. As I have already indicated, any study looking into the efficacy of existing or novel therapeutics for AD in women versus men has to consider duration of estrogen replacement in female subjects. Both animal models and human studies suggest that estrogen replacement is protective if used for a sufficient period of time. Therefore, if female subjects are not stratified by their duration of HRT use this could potentially confound your data.
