Is a simple methodology enough to analyze the impact of EU CBAM on international trade?

Dear all, and Happy New Year!

I am conducting a scientific study on Carbon Boarder Adjustment Mechanism but I can not find or decide which methodology to apply for analyzing its impact on the domestic producer revenue. I am leaning towards a simple analysis using the statistical method but I am not sure if it is sufficient plus I need a guidance on how to compile the data for the analysis without leaving out the important parameters included in the trade data. Thank you for your support and time to look into my request.
