According to https://www.elsevier.com/products/scopus/content/content-policy-and-selection and I quote “Upon completion of the re-evaluation process, the CSAB will decide to either continue a journal’s coverage or to discontinue the forward flow of the journal's coverage in Scopus (content covered in Scopus prior to the re-evaluation completion will remain in Scopus).” Throughout the years here on RG I’ve seen examples where “all of a sudden” a discontinuation was effective and that resulted in coverage stop more or less at that point or was effective a few years back (so a discontinuation in 2024 could mean a stop of coverage then or a coverage that stopped in 2023 or earlier). Based on the info provided by Scopus it is somewhat unclear whether coverage stops at the moment when the re-evaluation started or more likely it will continue, and coverage stop is effectuated in a way depending on the cause of the discontinuation.

Are you sure about the re-evaluation? If you mean the journal “International Journal on “Technical and Physical Problems of Engineering” I see no suspicious things looking at for example the Scopus coverage content (https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21100913338 ). Furthermore, you can see that for your co-author these papers are indexed

In general, I am not referring to a specific journal, but this is what I understood from a message I received from Scopus in the context of my inquiry about the status of a journal I am considering submitting a new article to.

Thanks for your info. Such a concrete answer related to their re-evaluation I have not seen before. It does not take away your concern about the possible loss of the Scopus indexing. Unfortunately, Scopus discontinue journal titles on a regular base (for various reasons) and this makes numerous researcher victim (some desperately need publications in Scopus indexed journals for their PhD, academic promotion, tenure track, etc.). In general, a researcher must verify the indexing status and condition of a journal, which can only be known by communicating with Scopus as they are the only entity capable of sharing this information transparently.

Below, I am sharing with you again a part of the last message I received from Scopus regarding the same topic, as part of my follow-up with them about some journals and their status.
