Yup i am not particularly working in Ion exchange area but yes, removal of organics for potable water. And I am sure magnetic ion exchange has been suggested lately.

Another idea is using, combined cation-anion exchange process. u cn chk ths one...may help u.

Use o f brine regenerated acrylic and styrenic strong base anion exchange resins is well established. Capacity can typically range from 1000 to 6000 bed volumes. Regeneration can be done with 128 g/L of NaCl at 10% concentration. Approximately 75 to 85 percent reduction can typically be achieved.

1 - how much ion exchange is lost during regeneration?

2- what is cost for different Ion exchange resins??

3- how many times an ion exchange resin can be used after regeneration?

Treavor Boyer published a valuable review on MIEX process recently (DOI: 10.1007/s40726-015-0012-2). Indeed there are lots of alternative magnetically functionalized resins synthetized in laboratory scale, but probably only MIEX resins (MIEX DOC, MIEX Gold, MIEX Plus) have been commercialized till now.
