Ever since we started talking about climate change, everyone has been focussing pretty closely on carbon content in whatever he projects believing that this would contribute towards carbon reduction and consequently, account for climate change. Despite such a focus from everyone world over, there seems to be no significant change in the atmosphere - instead, one witnessed erratic flood and temperature rise in places known otherwise. These warrant a poor understanding of the climate change per se and approach, perhaps in the opposite direction. I agree with you that the focus on carbon reduction is behind the worsening of environmental problems since 1987 WCED as YOU CAN NOT SOLVE THE POLLUTION PRODUCTION PROBLEM(the root-cause driving pollution production) BY MANAGING POLLUTION PRODUCTION(the consequence of the root-cause), and I have pointed out in different publications why using non systematic/non-sustainability thinking to solve a systemactic/sustainability problem violates not just the theory-practice consistency principle, but also they are operating within the critical problem solving impossibility theorem. Later this year, I will publish an article introducing the critical problem solving impossibility theorem just like the arrow impossibility theorem avanced traditional economic thinking, the critical problem solving impossibility theorem will make it easier to see when you should expect a critical problem to be solved or when you should expect to the tend towards systematic collapse by showing why non-sustainability solutions to sustainability problems should be expected to fail.

Estimado colega, la interrogante planteada por usted Lucio Muñoz sobre el camino no construido desde 2012 hacia una transición de economías contaminantes a economías limpias es profundamente relevante y, como doctor en economía y negocios internacionales con una perspectiva progresista, me resuena con particular fuerza. Es una crítica directa a la inercia y a los intereses arraigados que han impedido un cambio de paradigma crucial.

En 2012, en la Cumbre de Río+20, se discutió la "economía verde", un concepto que prometía un desarrollo más sostenible. Sin embargo, los compromisos y acciones posteriores han sido insuficientes frente a la magnitud del desafío. La razón por la que este camino no se construyó radica en la hegemonía de un modelo económico extractivista y linealque prioriza el crecimiento del PIB a toda costa, sin internalizar los costos ambientales y sociales.

A pesar de las advertencias, las emisiones globales de CO2​ de la energía continuaron aumentando, alcanzando un récord de 37.15 gigatoneladas en 2022 (Fuente: Agencia Internacional de Energía, IEA, 2023). La inversión en energías renovables, aunque creciente, sigue siendo insuficiente para cumplir los objetivos del Acuerdo de París. En 2023, la inversión global en transición energética fue de $$$1.7 billones de dólares, pero se necesitan $$$4.5 billones anualespara 2030 (Fuente: BloombergNEF, 2024).

La dependencia de combustibles fósiles (que aún representan más del 80% de la matriz energética global) y la resistencia de poderosos grupos de interés han frenado la transición. Además, la falta de marcos regulatorios robustos y de incentivos fiscales adecuados para las industrias limpias han perpetuado el statu quo. Las economías en desarrollo, como las de América Latina, a menudo se enfrentan a la presión de priorizar el crecimiento a corto plazo sobre la sostenibilidad a largo plazo, sin un apoyo financiero y tecnológico suficiente por parte del norte global.

En síntesis, el "camino no construido" no es resultado de la falta de conocimiento, sino de la falta de voluntad política y de una visión económica transformadora que priorice el bienestar planetario sobre la acumulación de capital sin límites. Para construir ese camino, se requiere una Macroeconomía Ecológica que integre los límites biofísicos y promueva políticas industriales verdes, comercio justo y una profunda reforma de los sistemas financieros para descarbonizar nuestras economías y asegurar una transición justa.

Yo escribi ese article para recalcar como dices que hay conocinient de mercados verdes que se podrian usar si la voluntad politica existe en el futuro para recobrar la perdida de intergridad academica y cientifica que apoyo un movimiento de mercados verdes pretendidos desde 2012 Rio + 20.

The 2012→2012–2022 “road to transition” synopsis: Rio+20 (2012) pushed the green-economy agenda internationally, but many observers argue the decade after featured avoidance tactics—piecemeal “dwarf” solutions, weak internalization of externalities, and missed opportunities for transformational institutional reform—so the “road” that might have led to comprehensive green markets was narrowed into partial fixes instead.
