We teach economics as if it were only about money. In fact money has no value unless backed by energy: your dollar bill should say "Pay to the bearer 5 MegaJoules of energy services". These concepts (and many more about how the Natural world is related to our economy) are laid out in the Textbook "Energy and the wealth of Nations: an introduction to BioPhysical Economics" available from Springer. Charles, thank you for taking the time to write, but your comment seems not to be directly related to the article. But in my other papers I have mentioned that energy is the blood of markets as without energy there is no production, nothing to consume, no money(no dollar), not enough energy means economic black outs......but that line of thinking would not affect the ideas in that article,,,
