As we know, there are different ways to integrate satellite images in remote sensing. Can anyone name methods for merging satellite images, one with high spectral resolution and the other with high spatial resolution, so that all bands of images participate in the merger and the output includes all bands?
You can't add information that isn't there. There are methods like pan-sharpening which can enhance contrast in low spatial resolution images, but it basically enhances contrast of human visualization, for analytics it messes with the spectra of any given cells. There are techniques specific to certain narrow domains which take advantage of special aspects of a given feature ( for example, rice paddies ). If you have some very dominant features, it is possible to use spectral un-mixing to determine their individual contribution to a cell's value.
In ILWIS use Image fusion, In ERDAS IMAGINE software, go to Pan sharpen tool and click on Resolution Merge and for ArcGIS environment go to raster processing then select Create Pan Sharpened Raster Dataset.
