According to some researches, there are two main directions to achieve innovative economic growth in some countries.

The first one is to create and or develop new technologies, increase scientific R&D, increase the level of knowledge and education, develop HC, stimulate the innovation processes, etc. in the country by internal capabilities and efforts.

The second one is to import new technologies, knowledge, etc. from outside of the country for the purpose to develop innovations and increase the productivity in the country (diffusion of innovation).

My question is that which one of the mentioned directions is being used mainly in your country and what are the advantages and disadvantages of them?
