We are in the days of technology obsolescence and technology obsolescence is such an issue that influence the telecom sector highly. We are moving from 2G to 3G to 4G and its going at different pace and different level.

The scenario is that these changes are happening in telecom sectors and the employees are redundant to face the challenges of these technological wave. They are incompetent to face these challenges and it develop competence depletion day by day. Further, these technology wave is affecting the business performance at large level. Many employees have got Golden shake hand and faced the challenges of retrenchment.

Several telecom companies have closed done and others are in the wave of mergers and acquisition.

It is my belief that if an organisation can at least forecast these changes and prepare the organisation towards continuous improvement through "innovation capacity (R&D) and capacity building (T&D)" they can maintain the business performance.

My confusion here is that whether these variables, innovation capacity (R&D) and capacity building (T&D) acting as "mediation" towards business business performance or "moderation" towards business performance.

Since these two variables are equally stimulating the effect, I feel these two variables are acting as [innovation capacity (R&D) and capacity building (T&D)] "mediation". Since it is not the variable which are not nominated like age gender or education like socio-demographic variables, innovation capacity (R&D) and capacity building (T&D) cannot act as moderator between technology obsolescence and business performance.
