India's New Education Policy ( NEP- 2020) has scrapped the M.Phil. Degree. Do you think the fresh Master's students can go for Ph.D. directly? Many scholars have gradually entered into Ph.D. by first getting an M.Phil. Degree. Do you think it is good to directly start Ph.D. work after getting a fresh Master's degree?
If I get your question, it appears that students who already had a Master's degree were required to register for an M'Phil degree before directly starting PhD work. If my understanding is correct, then India's New Education Policy makes sense. Why should students be enrolled on a second Master's programme before doing the PhD degree? In many universities across the world, the MA/MSc/MEd/LLM degree passed with distinction or merit is sufficient preparation for doctoral work. What is crucial before embarking on a PhD study are the following: (a) adequate knowledge of the relevant discipline or disciplines, (b) advanced research skills, (c) capacity for individual reflection and (d) the development of a viable research proposal which can significantly contribute to knowledge in a given field of study.

In my opinion, M.Phil. is a bridge of MA and PhD course, so PhD candidates can do better in their research as they know the nuances off research when they are in M. Phil. degree. If it is made scrap, obviously it will affect the students but if MA courses are made stronger, perhaps it doesn't affect much.
Yes, it is good to directly start PhD. I can say this from my own experience and that of many others whom I have seen while I was in Italy, Rome. In Italy, different Universities have different policies to admit candidates into Ph.D. At the Gregorian University in some of the Faculties, Master’s students were accompanied in such a way by their Professors and Guides that they used to suggest ways and means to their students to register for their Ph.D. without wasting time. Some of them were encouraged to deepen the research/thesis they have done for the Master’s degree and to develop it into a worthy doctoral thesis.
In some of the Faculties, after completing the Master’s the students could immediately register for the Ph.D. In some others after registering, the students were asked to do a few more courses. The practice in most of the Universities was to make sure that the doctoral candidate is serious about his/her research work and for this reason they would request the doctoral candidates to be in Rome for a year: spending time in reading, research, frequenting one or two courses, meeting the guide etc.
A committed student is supposed to be acquiring knowledge and skill already while doing his/her master’s degree. Therefore is in the making to offer a valid contribution to society with a PhD and to advance culture.
This is a good discussion Preeti Oza, Teresa Joseph and Raj Kumar Baral , in many countries there is this tendency for the candidate to go directly to the PhD. I think it depends on the situation, if a student already carries out research activities, that is, he has an initiation to scientific research, he could carry out a direct doctorate without prejudice and many difficulties. As was said earlier if you have good guidance from the supervisor. But if it is just the exclusion of the master's degree to increase the number of people with a PhD title, it may be a problem. In Brazil there is the possibility of doing a direct PhD, but the master's degree has not been eliminated, and you have the options of master's degree and then the PhD.

If some one has taken honours in BA for 4 years , in MA the extended course is repeated. So MA in one year is not a bad idea.
Yes, there was a need to simplify and speed up the process for the researchers to attract younger people who can do some meaningfurl research.
One of the problems of higher education is the continuity of education and the obtaining of diplomas without the students accumulating work or social experience. Continuity focused on higher education does not allow to assume the challenges and problems of real life and only assumes the academic dimension of social problems
Yes brilliant master students can go for direct Ph.D.benchmark studies. There must be a bench mark of performance for students to qualifyPh.D for a direct Ph.D. Such students would be advised to proceed for a direct Ph.D
Si, la maestría ,donde se obtiene la práctica de procesos de investigación, es un paso fundamental para entrar a un proceso más complejo como lo es un Doctorado, lo que sí pienso es que la apertura a los procesos de investigación deben ser más simplificados, de manera tal que el personal investigador se sienta motivado y con accesibilidad a realizar un estudio más profundo de un aspecto determinado y no sea únicamente como requisito para escalar en un trabajo específico.
