I am interested in conducting research in 2019 to address one of my recommendations in my dissertation. I am not affiliated with any university and would like to know what do I do so that I can get approval to conduct this study?
perhaps you have several options... first, connect with experts in the field who are in University settings. They may want to collaborate.
Second, you can publish your dissertation to stimulate thought around your subject and third, post what the topic is on this site.
You might also go to discussion boards or University blogs to identify experts or persons interested in collaborating.
Lastly, contact a Contract Research Organization for IRB approval.

I would like to do another study I recommended from my dissertation. I used the term" visually disabled." Out of 324 potential participants, 17 applied and only 10 completed. I was told by my liaison that the number was low because I used the words "Visually disabled" instead of "blind or visually impaired."
I would like to do the study again with the words "blind or visually impaired" to see if I gain more participants and to see if other modes of finding employment emerges.
Laverne, It is your dissertation and the dissemination is up to you and how you do it. You already received IRB approval. I would do a secondary analysis asking the question with the change in wording noting what you used in the initial writing.
