How to increase the visibility of research papers? Some papers have limited citations inspire there important results. May be, they do not appear in search engines. How to promote them?
Publish your research in journal that reaches the widest possible audience. Open access publishing makes scholarly works available online, free for anyone to find and read. The potential readership of open access articles is far greater than that for articles where the full-text is restricted to subscribers. Making your research open access will make it more visible.Present research findings at seminar/ symposium/conferences.
You as the author of the paper has a responsability to increase the visibility of your papers. The journal only put them in their website which is mainly accessible to their readers!! So assist by sharing links to your papers in social medias and also publish in journal with wide range of abstracting bodies; thirdly open access paper have better visibility than close access or paper published Under subscription. Also note that RG contribute widely in increasing visibility in the sense that your followers are probably those who like your work and are likly to cite them!
I guess research gate has helped me in that too.It so happens that nowadays whenever I look for a topic and see,it shows me search from research gate. This is because where the publisher will charge me to make my journal online access open, research gate allows me to make my paper viewed by one and all.As the paper is already published,it increases the authenticity of the review of teh paper when used and cited by a researcher.
Recent findings by Thoma and colleagues (2018) revealed that promoting articles using podcasts and infographics positively impacted both research dissemination and readability in terms of the Altmetric scores and abstract views.

Publishing in well reputed journals is a good first step. Secondly dissemination of this work by citing it in various media such as RG, your own website, your institution's website, etc. will enhance the probability that more and more people read it and perhaps cite it if relevant to their work.
As said by others, the best way to give a paper the best possible ‘kick off’ is:
-Publish in a journal with the best possible impact factor in your field
-Publish Open Access (or in subscription journal where you are sure that your ‘audience’ will look at)
-Publish using a publisher that link your paper to a number of services (like PubMed, Google Scholar, etc.)
But if your question is related to the issue what to do once the paper is published then a number of things you can do:
-Start with realizing that you as a researcher need to be visible (make a google scholar profile, be here on Researchgate, have yourself an ORCID ID, etc.)
-Be present on several platforms like Researchgate, ScienceOpen, Pubfacts, etc. depends a bit on the field you work at.
