TiO2 is capable to accept electron from an electron donor but has a limit for acceptance, how this limit of electron acceptance can be increased so that more and more electrons are drawn from the donor molecule or compound?
While the size of TiO2 nanoparticles can also play a role, one of the parameters is having an electron donor with a lower band gap energy but with a higher LUMO than that of TiO2. This is actually one of the principles in the fabrication of DSSC where TiO2 is used to continually accept electrons from the sensitizer. All the best.
