The visual interpretation of the funnel plot suggests the presence of asymmetry, but the Egger test indicates that there is no asymmetry. How to interpret these results?

It is really difficult to be confident on subjective/visual assessment of asymmetry, thus I will side with the results of the Egger test. You can also try using other techniques to help you decide: Deeks, Begg, trim-and-fill, etc. Please do search as well the mathematical applicability/assumptions of the Egger, Deek and Begg tests with regards to your meta-analysis so you can decide which result you will stick to if disagreements between their results exist.
