Might be a rookie question however the abcam platelet isolation protocol stipulates re-suspension of washed platelet pellet in Tyrode's with 3mg/mL BSA (fresh added).

I have been isolating platelets and re-suspending them for multiple assays without the inclusion of BSA.

Just seeing from other's perspective is BSA inclusion is absolutely necessary and if so why is it important?
