Do you mean identify and authenticate an individual to a system, or you mean remote monitoring?
For identification and authentication to systems, fingerprint, iris, and face scans are the most widely used. Biometrics are not typically used to remotely monitor people. Monitoring happens with video cameras so facial resignation could be (and is) implemented on those.

The emergence of forensic bio-metrics covers a wide range of applications for physical and cyber-crime detection.
Multi-modal bio-metrics allows the integration of two or more than two bio-metric recognition and verification systems in order to enhance performance requirements of identification. These systems are more reliable due to the presence of multiple bio-metric evidences. A multi-modal system could be a combination of fingerprint verification, face recognition, voice verification and smart-card or any other combination of bio-metrics. This enhanced structure takes advantage of the proficiency of each individual bio-metric and can be used to overcome some of the limitations of a single bio-metric.
