In research, I have always placed a heavy emphasis on executive collaboration and primary data collection -- an action research orientation. Considered a pragmatic approach to research with practice, I often draft qualitative manuscripts. Sometimes, I find it more difficult to deal with reviewers on such manuscripts if they themselves are more focused on quantitative methods. I appreciate multiple epistemologies, which is why my work with executives has been successful to date. Yet, that is not the case with fellow colleagues and reviewers.
I'm curious to know if you have experienced similar circumstances and/or have suggestions for how to approach the submission and review process to mitigate barriers.
I agree with Tabata and Mazur. So may many factors influence the issue in question. So many authors, reviewers and publishers alike, are favourable disposed to quantitative works because they are more verifiable and succinct. With development in data sciences, research seem to be heading absolutely in that direction.

I believe that your qualitative vs. quantitative distinction in manuscript consideration of publication by a peer-reviewed journal is dependent on the nature of the accepted papers that appear in the journal. Some science journals accept only quantitative papers; many science journals will accept mostly quantitative papers with an occasional qualitative paper (e.g., an opinion paper, or a historical paper), while others will be devoted to qualitative papers (e.g., a law journal, a philosophy journal, and the like).

I believe that qualitative research is important for the explanation of the trends shown by the results of quantitative research. If qualitative research paper includes such an explanation of, or some relationship to, quantitative research, then the reviewers of most journals would treat qualitative and quantitative research manuscripts equally. So, it would be essential not to neglect quantitative approach completely in the qualitative research paper.

Think it depends on the journal editor / reviewers' orientation & experience exposed to both quantitative & qualitative research. We all know both quantitative & qualitative research have their own strengths & weaknesses (see RG link below). If the editor / reviewers only expose to either one they might put higher weightage on the research method that they cherish more. But editor / reviewers that had been exposed to both or mixed method research, they can provide more balanced view depending on your research problem, research objectives & research questions.

Yes both are researches either qualitative or quantitative so almost all journal accept both types
There are different ares of research, as I work in food science mot work is quantitative and no paper will be accepted if not included enough numbers. However, we have also qualitative to explain, discuss and make smart goals. From your details in your question I have a feeling that you need to focus more on quantitative work, that mainly will make your manuscript go through the reviewing process. Research is learning and practice and I have changed lots of my way to do research because of reviewers viewpoints; lots of them I agree that they have good viewpoint.

Journals publish all kinds of articles and academic papers irrespective of the methodological approach that drove the study. The blind reviewers who are asked to critically examine the submitted paper judge the worth of each of them based on the specific methods utilized by the author(s) for the study. Their interest is how well and/or appropriate is the methodological approach in helping search for the viable data in drawing valid conclusions from the results or findings. The choice of the methodological approach by authors does not matter to a journal but how well the methodology fits the research. Best regards

In research qualitative and quantitative research are equally important due to the suitability of methodology and approach in science. Most behavioral research prefers qualitative which is independent of wide data. Quantitative research result is dependent on the wide data obtained and analyzed. While both research methods requires analysis, it is important to note that most journals have their approach and guidelines on type of research.
My opinion is that most quality and high impact journals accept both qualitative and quantitative research if they meet their requirement for acceptance and contribution to knowledge.
As a qualitative researcher, I can imagine Suzanne's experience. Quan and Qual papers may not attract equal treatment in some journals that are quantitatively oriented. I once asked an editor of a journal published by Elsevier if I could submit my qualitative paper, but was surprised by his response which was 'No'. What I do is to submit my papers to journals that accept qualitative research. Some reviewers, especially those who are quantitative researchers also think that Qual papers are inferior to Quants, and this facilitates bias.
It depends on the scope of the journal,some encourage qualitative and some quantitative.

I think tere wouldnt be a straight forward yes or not answer to the posed question; rahter it depends on the journal; while some may out more amphasis on quantitative articles others would be inclined towrds qualitative while others would accept mixed methods. As a social scientist and pubic health specialit I use all three depending on the focus of study. To choose a journal on which to submit I think its always best to check the jurnal's scope and published articles.
