Since the turn of the XXI Century, biosciences have become increasingly linked with legal and political issues. Bio-scientific and bio-technical knowledge are emerging as a realm where politics has found ways to endorse some practices. What are the implications of this fact?
Science is science with no limitation. It is your imagination and borrowing techniques from other discipline. May be you need small change(s) to suit your need. Discussion with other experts and in related field to start and apply. You may get a break.
If the legal system and political system exist to keep society structured as it is, then bio and tech knowledge become instruments of these systems.

About Mir. Prasad post, I disagree with you, because as a heavy stream of Sociology of Knowledge have shown, science, technology and society are strongly interwined (headed by Bruno Latour, for instance), so to stablish a boundary to science is an artifical fact and, in my opinion, a first attempt to the exercise of power by the Science.
About the both Mr. Bjerke and Mr. Russel post, them have remind me one topic we are working now about the equipment notion of Foucault in his book, "The Hermeneutic of the Subject". We think like you, biotech is a dispositif through people are connected and thus, discourses become "ethos", some modes of existence such as "living-together" body (with other species like virus or bacterias).
Finally, from my point of view, biotech has to be seen as an ethnometodological view, so we can't think in it as an abstract or "macro" issue, but as a set of concrete practices and objects as protocols, outbreak maps, etc.

Well, Mr. Bjerke, when I said "discourses become ethos", I meant an ethos for the whole society or population, not only scientist or biotech experts. For instance: if I red a brochure about biosecurity measures (wash your hands often, be careful with your symptoms if you come back from West Africa...), in some way, the "introjection" of this behaviors in my routine is due to a shift in my ethos caused by the brochure's discourse. The conclusion is (from my point of view), the question I ask: a shift in subjectivity.
So, are discourses and ethos truly far away from general people?
