The Internet connects people. This is obvious. Less obvious is that the Internet also contributes to the destruction of the open society, not just by revealing all sorts of data about people in an assymetric fashion but also by making people believe that they may know about everything, whereas it is far from being true. Even unlimited access to the Internet can prove to be a fallacy. Transparency of politics can and will never be complete. Any more arguments for and against the Internet in its relation to open society? Can we establish whether the balance is altogether positive or negative? How could we improve it towards real openness working for the people?
