In what ways do you think the big data science will be useful in traditional clinical research?

Often data on specific attributes is required and also frequently that there is no need for thousands of data points for statistical validity in clinical and health administration research. Data privacy issues are also raised and HIPAA compliance is certainly a challenge.

What is your insight on the use of big data for clinical and administrative research? The literature is quite limited.
