East Africa is an environmentally significant region rich in biodiversity, wildlife, mountains, oceans, and is characterised with growing population, that drives pressure of land degradation, deforestation, urbanization, industrialization and climate change impact. If there is an interest to establish a unique faculty of environment and health that offers cutting edge training, research and professional capacity development, what are current critical gaps, weakness and opportunities associated with environmental science, natural resources, climate change and health training in East Africa universities? How can such faculty be modelled to become regional centre of excellence?
