The drug compound (a multi tyrosine kinase inhibitor) has been showing significant anti-inflammatory activity. Planning to test if it has anti-arthritic activity.
I would like start with some in vitro assays but it seems that beside the well established animal model there are few applicable in vitro assays.
Need some suggestions:
what are rationale protocols currently being used in vitro? direct or indirect?

Arthritis is a clinical diagnosis and requires patients or model animals. In consequence, there will be no in vitro assay. In any case, you will have to monitor joint functionality or synovial fluid content.

Thank you for your answer. My plan is to check anti-inflammatory property of my compound before commencing the in vivo experiment. I found that there are few cell lines being used (e.g. SW982). I am not sure how rationale it would be to use this cell line.
My ultimate goal is to find out the role of DDR2 in rheumatoid arthritis, and whether can my compound be an answer to that. I am interested to check the expression of DDR2 and related signaling components especially MMPs and few cytokines (TNF-a, ILs). That is why I have been looking for an in vitro analysis first.
