I think there is need to establish exactly how climate change affects species diversity in tropical forests. Focus should also be on each species's response to changing climate. This will enable the establishment of species specific adaptation measures. I have not yet come across a convincing research on this. If you have please kindly share.

Thanks and nice observation Dr. Chapungu. I have read that species or taxa focussed research will give more info on the impacts. I am searching for studies on these lines. if I come across I will share. Do share if you also come across such papers.

I think networks like RAINFOR and ATDN (in the case of the Amazon) can play a key role in the research to predict the response of species, clades and the forest as a whole to climate change. Using data from fieldplots we already have quite a body of information on the overall "behaviour" of the forest in response to climate change. I think using these data we can develop and improve models that predict responses of forests, species and functional groups considering different trades such as growthrate, habitat preferences and lifespan. I suggest you also consider a model named PRECIS that can be used to predict effects on biodiversity as done by Andersen et al in Bolivia (see link)

The IMAFLORA http://www.imaflora.org/ and the IMAZON http://www.imazon.org.br/pagina-inicial-en?set_language=en&cl=en are important centers for Climate Chance Investigations in Brazilian Amazon.

At the same time the Federal University of Amazonas (Brazil) is developing a project with traditional communities in Amazonas State. The aim is to promote resilients and productive agricultural systems (such as agroforestry) to reduce and mitigate the C+ emissions. The project is in the beginning (started this year), but we can talk about it.
