The window shown in the video is "Laser Alignment". The red dot and red bar shows the laser deflection signal. So what do you mean by "photo detector"? If it means the laser detector, I guess you should check electrical connections.

If your laser diode is shinning on the end of long cantilever (length more than 200um) with very low spring constant then you can observe laser spot fluctuation on the PSD detector due to natural thermal noise of soft cantilever.
