When creating a sub-model (fine model) of a structure (Coarse model) in ANSYS workbench, it allows importing cut boundary remote forces. However, by default the option works when the cut boundary has beam elements on the side of coarse model and shell or body on the side of fine model? How can one use this method for transferring forces from solid in the coarse model to solid element in the fine model?

I think you can have a solid element in the main model and solid element in the sub structure model and there is nothing wrong with it. I noticed something in your question by the way. You said something about importing cut boundary remote force, however, I think that you need to use imported displacement instead.
They way that modelling substructure works is that you need to define the new displacements for the substructure model to be able to solve it not the forces. Please have a look at this link to see how you can perform substructure modelling in ANSYS Mechanical.

Hamidreza Ahmadi Moghaddam I have read a few technical papers in which it was reported that the use of force based sub-modelling is helpful when there is change of geometry in the sub-model as it changes the stiffness of entire model, in which case the use of displacement doesn't give good results.
In my case, the geometry of the submodel changes even at the cut boundary. Is it appropriate to use the sub-modelling method in this case, or should I just use forces obtained from the simulation of coarser model at the cut boundary and manually give them as input to the smaller model or sub-model at the cut boundary? To do so, I will have to create both coarse and fine or the sub-model independent of each other in ANSYS workbench.

One of the main idea behind the sub-modelling method is reducing number of nodes and elements in the model, so model can be solve more efficiently. However, the sub-model geometry (cut boundary and rest of the geometry) shall not be changed in the second step (smaller model). I think if the cut boundary is changed then Ansys won't be able to accept the imported displacement since the location of nodes as well as node IDs are different. You may be able to import the boundary if the cut boundary is the same and rest of geometry is different. However, the result you will get from this analysis is not going to be valid because of the stiffness change (that you already mentioned).
Are you changing the cut boundary purposefully?? why the cut boundary is not the same??
Regarding applying forces, how you want to calculate the forces at the cut boundary?? You can extract forces from your model at constraints only (referring to "Force Reaction" prob). In my opinion using force is not appropriate.

In my academic project, I have a task of redesigning a specific zone of the support structure frame of a machine to accommodate mechanical joints such as clinching. I was thinking of using this sub-modelling approach to import the force or displacement data from the coarser model (this model is already available with older design) and implement in the redesigned fine model.
