In my work, there are three peaks corresponding to the so-called D-band, G-band, and 2D-band. However, there is another peak at 2329.26 cm-1 and I am wondering what reason could cause this peak? Is this due to defects, or different vibrational mode or simply it might be caused by impurities.
Dear Lashgari the peak at 2329cm-1 shows that there is formation of inter-layered broad Nitrogen-Hydrogen (most likely Hydrohalide) interaction in your FLG (few layered graphene). As visible in graph the highest count is nearly 350 & peak you are concerned is nearly of 150 counts, clearly shows large number of inter layer stretch. Now as far as considering this as 'impurity' it depends on the kind of Graphene you prefer to synthesize for any specific application.
Your Raman peak at 2329cm is due to nitrogen gas, N2, in the air: see attached file, Figure 3.
The air oxygen peak may be seen as a sharp shoulder at ~1555cm, next to the your major graphene peak at ~1600cm?
Is this band repeatable? Perhaps this is the peak of cosmic radiation. Band is too narrow in my opinion as to the Raman band. Repeat the measurement in order to eliminate / confirmation of this thesis.
