In my opinion, it is not suitable to perform an Analysis of Variance with subject as one independent variable. Am i wrong?

Dear all,

I have found several times in research reports, results of ANOVAs with 3 subjects and a certain number of repetitions of a measure for each one. Then the independent variable of the ANOVA was "subject". In my opinion it is not suitable. Am i right?
